FOODGUARD was proud to be part of the 13th International Conference on Predictive Microbiology in Food (ICPMF13), a major international event bringing together experts, researchers, and innovators to discuss the latest scientific developments in food microbiology and safety.

During a dedicated session on EU projects, the FOODGUARD coordinator presented the project alongside other pioneering initiatives, including SOSFood Project, foodigIT, AMBROSIA Project, FunShield4Med, QuiPack, and EXCEL4MED. Together, these projects highlighted their contributions to advancing scientific approaches and innovative solutions in predictive modelling for food microbiology and safety.

With over 180 participants from 32 countries, 58 oral presentations, 72 posters, 2 symposia, and 4 workshops, ICPMF13 concluded in a warm and collegial atmosphere.

This year’s conference also served as a heartfelt memorial to our esteemed colleague Kostas Koutsoumanis, whose vision and contributions will continue to guide the scientific community.

The organisers — George-John Nychas, Panagiotis Skandamis, and Chrysoula Tassou — expressed their gratitude to the invited speakers József Baranyi, Jan Van Impe, Gianni Panagiotou, and Qingli Dong, as well as to all participants for joining the event in Greece and contributing to its success.

Special thanks were extended to the Hellenic Scientific Society Mikrobiokosmos, the EU projects FOODGUARD, FunShield4Med, SOSFood Project, AMBROSIA Project, foodigIT, QuiPack, EXCEL4MED, and the supporting companies KOTINO, Elsevier, ATHAL, and AFEA Congress for making this event possible.

The community now looks forward to ICPMF14, which will take place in 2027 in Shanghai, hosted by Qingli Dong and Yangtai Liu.
