The Department of European Research & Development of REZOS BRANDS S.A. and the educational organisation EUROTRAINING co-organized, under the framework of the European-funded project MY FARM, a seminar titled “Multifunctionality in Agriculture: Education, Entrepreneurship & Policies.”

MY FARM project

The MY FARM project is a European-funded project coordinated by 11 partners across 6 countries — Italy, Romania, Greece, Ukraine, Portugal, and Cyprus. Its main goal is to create an innovative ecosystem around multifunctional agriculture, promoting education, innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector. A key focus of the project is the development of a new professional role — the Multifunctionality Technician (in greek "Τεχνικός Πολυλειτουργικότητας") — who will support producers using modern methods and digital tools.

Within this seminar, Dr. Chrysoula Tassou - ELGO DIMITRA, presented our FOODGUARD project, an initiative dedicated to improving food safety, quality, and sustainability through advanced technologies.

Her presentation focused on:

  1. Sustainable Food Packaging: Development of eco-friendly packaging materials and use of beneficial microbial cultures (biopreservation) to naturally extend the shelf life of foods like meat, cheese, and fresh produce.

  2. Shelf-life Monitoring: Implementation of smart sensors such as Near-Infrared (NIR), FTIR spectroscopy, and multispectral imaging systems to detect quality changes in real time.

  3. Shelf-life Prediction: Combination of microbiological analyses, optical data, and machine learning to predict freshness and optimize storage conditions.

  4. Traceability through IoT: Use of Internet of Things (IoT) applications, such as the Agritrack app, for digital traceability and monitoring of temperature, logistics, and quality control across the food supply chain.

Through these innovative tools, FOODGUARD aims to enhance food safety, reduce waste, and support transparency and sustainability in the agri-food system, perfectly aligning with the broader goals of the MY FARM project.
