The FOODGUARD Project had a strong and inspiring presence at the recent Food System Microbiomes Conference, where our teams showcased cutting-edge research in food microbial ecology and engaged with leading experts across the field.

Research Spotlights

Ifremer: Biopreservation Strategies & Microbial Dynamics of Gilthead Seabream

Ifremer presented innovative results on biopreservation approaches and the microbial behavior of Gilthead seabream.

  • Poster & flash talk delivered by Garance Leroy

Leibniz Institute – HKI & Agricultural University of Athens:

Multi-omics profiling reveals the microbial ecology of fish spoilage under different packaging conditions

  • Research from Qilian Fan et al.

  • Poster presented by Prof. George-John Nychas & Chrysoula Tassou

Collaboration & Engagement

Beyond formal presentations, our researchers connected with teams from numerous initiatives exploring diverse dimensions of food microbiomes. These exchanges also included valuable interactions with authorities and policymakers, helping shape future collaboration opportunities and strategies for impactful research.

A big thank you to the organisers, MicrobiomeSupport Association, and to all contributors who continue to drive advancements in food microbiome research.
